Job summary The Chief Accountant is responsible to the Assistant Director of Finance. The Chief Accountant is responsible for being knowledgeable in hotel accounting and taxation, and maintaining the General & Sub Ledgers. Chief Accountant collaborates with other all team members in Accounting Department to prepare the monthly and yearly financial reports.  The Chief Accountant must supervise A/P Supervisor, A/R Supervisor and Income Auditor.Essential duties and responsibilities – (Key activities)The Chief Accountant is in charge of maintaining the General Ledger (G/L) and Sub Ledgers (S/L) including the accounts receivable and accounts payable ledgers as well as journal & journal voucher entries. Prepare monthly recurring standard, prepaid and accrued expenses journal vouchers. Review payroll calculation performed by Paymaster and posting the labor expense (payroll journal) in accounting system. Calculate taxes, benefits and other payroll related expense distributions and prepare the related journal vouchers. Balance the G/L and S/L monthly matching all G/L balances with S/L balances and verifying the details of each balance. Prepare daily bank reconciliations. Complete all journals and journal vouchers entry and prepare the trial balance. Submit them to the Director Finance Business Partner and Assistant Director of Finance for review and after receiving approval, prepare the monthly financial reports. Submit summaries of closing to the Assistant Director of Finance. Provide guidance in accounting processes to other related sections and advise management on ways to improve accounting processes. Assist in physical counts of fixed assets and inventories. Assist the Assistant Director of Finance in the calculation and payment of business and payroll taxes. Assist with Balance Sheet Reconciliations ensuring all supporting documentation are filed and are in order. Prepare the necessary documents for internal and external auditors in their audit of accounting the hotelOther standard responsibilitiesIs responsible for the proper supervision, training and administration of respective staff. Fully assumes the duties of the Assistant Director of Finance during any absences. Complies to the company policies. Works within all pre-set budgetary limits. Takes on other tasks in addition of the ones stated, in a reasonable framework. Develops and updates policies and manuals, as related to the division/department, for implementation in the field, while ensuring compliance to the same for consistency across the group. Actively participates in and leads recruitment and talent development for the division/department, to meet both current and future needs Is a “brand ambassador” at all times and ensures brand integrity and clarity are always maintained. Models the company’s culture, vision, mission and core values at all times.OthersWhile this job description is intended to be an accurate reflection of the duties involved in this position, the company reserves the right to add, remove or alter duties when business need dictates.Required skills Outgoing, career minded, mature and able to supervise and lead a team. Self-starter with analytical mind, goal-oriented team leader Language: Fluency in English and local language as required. Computer knowledge, proficiency in MS Office Qualifications University graduate with major in accounting Degree in accounting or CPA & SOCPA are preferred Experience Hotel accounting in A/P, A/R and uniform accounting system.  5+ yrs experience in similar position.
